OVERVIEW

Two small Tive trackers (about the size of an iPhone) are installed inside your trailer, typically in under 15 minutes. The first is the Tive Solo 5G. The Solo 5G is powered by a rechargeable NiMH (Nickel Metal Hydride) battery (so no lithium batteries are in your trailer) and provides location, temperature, and light and shock sensors. We install this on the front wall, roughly 3 feet off the deck, next to the reefer head, where forklifts are unlikely to hit it.
We connect a small wire harness from the Solo 5G, secure it across the front wall, down through one of the front drain holes, and then up to the reefer battery. We have special adhesive clips to hold the wiring securely in place. This harness has a special module, about the size of a quarter, that converts 12V to 5V and measures the voltage of your reefer battery. We use this to top off our internal battery, which typically gives us around 30 days of use without any external connection.
We get our second temperature point with a small battery-powered device called the Tive Beacon. This thing fits in the palm of your hand and is installed at the rear of the trailer. Just peel the cover off the tape and stick it above the door. It links up automatically to the Solo 5G. The Beacon has a two-year battery, and we know when it starts to run low. Don’t worry, we’ll automatically send you a replacement when the time comes.
